The manor was self sufficiant. All of the things the people on the manor needed were made there on the manor.  The serfs produced almost everything needed on the manor like crops, fuel, cloth, leather goods, lumber, but had to purchase salt, iron and things such as millstones, which were used to grind grain.

                                                                                  Food
All the food was grown or raised on the manor. They grew grain for bread and raised animals for meat.  there was a baker and a mill in the manor and there was a forest for the king nobles and his/ her friends. there were also streams and ponds where there could be fish which would be an important source of food.

Tools were made by the blacksmith which was also in the manor.
